2019 Australian Government Landcare Farming Award – SA
Barossa Grape & Wine Association
“By building improving soil health and increasing biodiversity, Barossa’s wine grape growers can reduce inputs such as water, synthetic fertilisers and chemicals – and our vineyards can better withstand the hotter, drier seasons we are experiencing. BGWA’s strategy to initiate practice change is to work from the ‘ground up’, engaging people through inspirational stories and demonstrating best practices at the grassroots. Our current generation of Barossa grape-growers is now shifting their focus from ‘what’ they are doing, to ‘how’ and ‘why’ they are doing things, ensuring generations to come have the same opportunity to benefit from the land that they did.” – BGWA Viticultural Development Officer, Nicki Robins
Barossa Grape & Wine Association (BGWA) is the representative body for over 550 grapegrowers and 190 winery brands.
