2019 Indigenous Land Management Award – TAS
pakana services
pakana services is a not-for-profit social enterprise that was created in 2012 to provide work and training for Aboriginal people in natural resource management, agriculture and other industry sectors. pakana services begun through the initial efforts of a core group of people committed to getting tangible outcomes for the Aboriginal community, and with seed funding and initial office support provided by NRM South. The enterprise derives all its income from the land and sea services it provided to a diverse range of clients and all profits are reinvested into the business.
The success of pakana services in landcare and community empowerment is reflected in many positive outcomes visible through the projects in which they have been encaged. The success is due to the hard work of John Easton (MANAGER) and the dedication of the pakana services staff.
