“This award is a testimony to the groundswell from the Canberra community to connect more with agriculture and the environment, and to farm the land in a way that lasts. We live in a city of outstanding communicators, collaborators and creators who give back rather than just take. I’m just lucky to know so many.” said Fred McGrath Weber, farmer at Majura Valley Free Range Eggs and ACT Young Landcare Leadership Award Finalist

Fred McGrath Weber is an influential leader in the ACT, bridging the gap between conservation, community, place-making and entrepreneurship.

Fred lives and works on his family farm, Majura Valley Free Range Eggs. He designs and builds mobile egg laying sheds.

As an active member of the Landcare ACT Members Council and President of the Rural Landholders Association (RLA), he has improved communication between RLA and other environmental partners.

Fred has been integral in efforts to conserve the farming heritage of the Majura Valley region.

He exemplifies the future of the ‘bush capital’ – as both an advocate and innovator.
