South Australian No-Till Farmers Association (SANTFA)

South Australian No-Till Farmers Association (SANTFA) has been at the forefront of the minimum-till movement since the mid-Nineties, and today assists South Australian farmers in the adoption and implementation of no-till and conservation agriculture. The organisation represents some 400 members and over 1.1million hectares of land in South Australia. SANTFA was integral to the adoption of No-Till farming practices in South Australia.

Over the twenty-year history of SANTFA, No-Till farming by land area in South Australia has increased from under 10% to over 80%. No-Till is still widely recognised as being the single biggest influence on improved soil conservation, water-use-efficiently and agricultural productivity in the modern farming era. The recent development of the water jet technology offers huge potential to production methods and improving the state of the natural environment through reducing soil cultivation and increasing ground cover retention.

The development of the water jet system is the first of its kind internationally, never has such an idea been developed like this, and in July 2019 Sugar Research Australia became the first commercial customer of an AquaTill unit, with application to other industries still under development.
