Moore Catchment Council and the Yued Community of Moora

“Moore Catchment Council has partnered with the Moora Yued Aboriginal community for over 10 years now and are grateful this partnership has been recognised in the WA Landcare Awards. This partnership has positively affected and created good long term outcomes for the local Shires, schools and community through working on country opportunities, landcare activities, and cultural knowledge sharing.” Tony White, Chair Moore Catchment Council and WA Australian Government Partnerships for Landcare Award Finalist.

The Moore Catchment Council and Yued community are working together to help improve the health of the Moore catchment and also local Aboriginal wellbeing.

Over the last ten years, Moore Catchment Council has partnered with Yued community to ensure working on country opportunities are evident in all Government and private business grant projects. This partnership has provided positive outcomes for the local Shires in on ground projects including revegetation, rubbish removal, weed removal. The partnership has also delivered strong engagement programs for local schools, including traditional language learning, bush foods exploring, bush walks and stories, and for tourists including new signs with local Yued content, bush walks, talks and workshops on bush tucker and culture.
