Tempy Primary School

Tempy Primary School students have become inspiring environmental leaders and Malleefowl ambassadors following a student-driven project learning about the importance of conservation and sustainability. Tempy’s students became concerned when they encountered sightings of endangered Malleefowl feeding on the edges of the highway. Frightened they would be hit by cars, the students wanted to learn more so they could alert the community about the importance of Malleefowl conservation.

Since then, the students have become experts about Malleefowl. They actively monitor Malleefowl nests in local parks, lobby for more pest animal control and better signage for roadsides and share their learnings with the community. With Tempy’s students in their corner, the Malleefowl’s future is in safe hands.
