Undalup Wadandi Rangers Program

The Undalup Wadandi Rangers Program employs local Aboriginal peoples while creating capacity for Wadandi Peoples to apply best-practice Caring for Country traditional practices.

The Undalup Wadandi Rangers Program, overseen by Wadandi Elders and a Wadandi Custodian creates capacity for Aboriginal Peoples to care for Country, employment opportunities for Aboriginal People and assists with positive mental health outcomes for all participants. The program also builds skills, promotes a positive workplace, creates a sense of belonging and instils respect for Culture, while giving participants a sense of purpose. The program has recently seen seven rangers complete their Certificate II in Conservation and Land Management.

The outcomes of the Caring for Country Wadandi Rangers Program include protection of sites of enormous cultural and historical significance, management of invasive species, protection and rehabilitation of environmentally important country, sharing of knowledge and upskilling of participants to influence environmentally sustainable practices through community education sessions and events.
