Collaborative weaving with Aunty Kija – connect with land, spirit, and creativity to contribute to a collective artwork that bridges the national NRM, ALCA and National Landcare conferences
The Australian Land Conservation Alliance (ALCA), Landcare Australia, and NRM Regions Australia are part of a diverse and overlapping network of people, communities and groups contributing unique expertise and approaches to achieve lasting environmental and social outcomes for all Australians.
In a unique cross-sectoral initiative, we are working together to support and promote our conferences that will be hosted in Queensland late 2025.
We have created a very special opportunity to connect all three conferences by working with respected Aboriginal artist, Aunty Kija.
If you are attending one of the conferences, you are invited to take part in a special, hands-on activity with Aunty Kija who will guide delegates in creating woven pieces of art. Your contribution to the weaving with Aunty Kija – no matter how big or small – will become part of a single, collaborative artwork piece.
The weaving art piece will commence with the NRM Regions Conference in Cairns this September, travelling with Aunty Kija to the National Landcare Conference on the Gold Coast in late September, to its final destination in Cairns at the ALCA conference.
Come along, take a moment to slow down, connect with others, and weave your part of this collective story. Together, we’ll create something beautiful that reflects all three conferences and everyone who took part.
